A company makes insecticides nder the name of Safer. Like Safer insecticidal soap, etc. Available at most garden centers. Salt water is supposed to kill weeds by sterilizing the soil, use only where you do not want vegetation to grow. Also, a solution of water abd dish soap will kill some pests. The best thing I have found is a homemade solution using instabts coffee crystals, water, tabasco sauce and disk soap. The proportions for it are: 1 gal. of water, 1 cup of instant coffee crystals (not the coffee powder), couple of dashs of tobasco sauce and 1 Tbl spoon of liquid dish soap. Shake well and spray. Especially good for aphids.
