How to garden organically

I have treasured plants brought from the family home I sold a year ago. The plants have been thriving in the yard of the rent house I moved to but I discovered fire-ants all around. I want to take cuttings from when I move soon. . Any green ideas for organic gardening ?

try a solution of water (boiled) with one clove of garlic and some powdered cayenne pepper, then add a drop of dishsoap. This can be sprayed on your plants and will keep bugs off for a little while… worth a try.

try some biological methods of controlling ants, meaning understanding their natural enemies like birds or most commonly, anteaters.

Depends on the plants. Not all plants do well with cuttings. If the plant does do well with cuttings, then I suggest you do a little research as many plants propagate differently.

First you have to know if the plant you want to take a cutting from will root from a cutting..then if so ….run the cuttings under water and wash it off…check closely to make sure there is no ants on the cuttings and it should be okay…or if the plant is not to big it self..trim it down some.. dig up the plant ..run the plant under water a few different times and pot it..watch for sign of ants…more then likely the ants will leave after it is potted up!

About Author

I've been an avid gardener most of my life and I've always had an interest in organic gardening. My parents always had gardens when I was a child and while I can't say that no chemicals were used, most products and methods used to maintain the garden were natural. Now that I have a garden of my own (past 7 years) I've gone strictly organic. This blog is my attempt to share Organic Gardening Tips with you.
