John in Ontario (where I am) the general rule of thumb is to plant around the Victoria Day Weekend as we've usually had our last frost by then.

I'm not really sure when the last frost would be in Prince George, if you can get that information, plant about a week after the last frosts are expected.

Growing vegetables is fairly easy and yes you will save some money as well as provide food for your family that is likely more nutritious than what you'd buy in the grocery store- given that it will be so fresh when you eat it.

My sunflowers tend to reseed themselves so I haven't planted any for years, but like the veggies i would plant seeds just after the final frost. Squirrels and birds will eat the sunflower heads and seeds so once the flowers start to mature be sure to collect some seeds for yourself!

I am thinking of planting a garden this coming spring.
My reason is because of the economic times we are living in.I grew up on a farm back in Ontario.I'm not sure when to start planting in Prince George?I tried to grow sunflowers a few times but never got any seeds from it.I'm sure that I planted them to late in the season.
Any tips would be appreciated.
